Flourocarbon Line Maintenance Tips From Vicious Pro Heath Smith

The fishing industry has been advanced tremendously over the last several years with the coming about of fluorocarbon line. The Vicious Pro elite fluorocarbon is by far the most durable line I have had the pleasure of fishing with in my lifetime, however it as well as all fluorocarbon line requires some maintenance to stay in top fishing condition.

When storing your line avoid extreme temperature conditions as well as avoid direct sun exposure to ensure you get the best out of your investment. I use a soft side cooler to store my filler spools of line in a dry storage compartment of my boat. Also all of my bulk spools of line have a place in a closet inside my house so that they are climate controlled.

I also make sure to spray Vicious line conditioner on all of my line as I spool it on my reels. Not only does the line conditioner add casting distance and smoothness, it also has excellent UV protection for my line while the reel lies on the front deck of the boat during a day of fishing. Bass Pro Crappie Masters "Angler Team Of The Year" PDF Print E-mail

YAMAMOTO TEAM WINS POINTS CHAMPIONSHIP

Bill Braswell of Hazard, KY and Dan Dannenmueller of Milbrook, AL have won the 2011 Bass Pro Shop’s Crappie Masters “Angler Team of the Year” national points championship. The Gary Yamamoto Custom Bait’s pro staff team, proudly sponsored by Vicious Fishing, began their chase for the points title back in January of this year on the Harris Chain of Lakes located at Tavares FL. After a total of 15 more tournaments in 8 different states, the team sealed their point’s victory in September on KY Lake at Big Sandy TN.

The team first moved into the lead following the Grenada Lake MS tournament back in April and would remain in first place for the remainder of the season. Braswell says, "It was a long season on the road running a total of 30,000 miles. We faced freezing temperatures at Reelfoot Lake TN early in the year followed by extremely hot weather by midsummer at Lake Texoma TX. Dead batteries, flat tires and broken equipment were just a few of the hardships we encountered in our run for the title."

The team finished the season with 2621 points. This was the highest point total ever achieved by a Crappie Master’s team and only 68 points ahead of the second place team. This made the 2011 points race the closest in Crappie Masters trail history.

Braswell and Dannenmueller were crowned as the 2011 “Angler Team of the Year” point’s champions at this year’s Crappie Masters “Classic” national championship tournament at Milbrook AL in late September. Way to Get Vicious guys!

Vicious Fishing Quick Tips By Patrick Pierce PDF Print E-mail
Boat And Motor Maintenance Can Make Big Difference

Patrick Pierce, Vicious Fishing Pro Angler

A noisy trolling motor can have very negative effects on shallow spring time fishing success. While you are doing your annual maintenance or getting things ready to go next season, be sure to give the trolling motor a little attention. Tighten up all of the mounting bolts and hardware on the mounting bracket and add a little grease to the hinges and contact points. This is also a great time to replace a worn retrieval rope so you don’t end up on your backside or in the water during your next tournament.

If you have a snow day or a little spare time this winter, consider breaking out the owner’s manuals for your boat’s electronics for a quick refresher course. You might be surprised at some of the features and capabilities that you didn’t know you had or had forgotten about.
